Clearing up a technical misconception... ✨
A low roughness value (Ra) doesn't always mean a beautiful aesthetic. We know our customers and their expectations well, so in most cases, we pay attention to both. However, please always specify your requirements for both aspects on your plans.
A roughness of 0.15µm meets the highest technical standards, but as the photo shows, the surface may still not be 'aesthetically pleasing'...
Common roughness value limits are:
- 1.2µm, easily achievable for stainless steel plates
- 0.8µm, often used as an upper limit for pharmaceutical applications
- 0.4µm, 0.5µm, and 0.6µm are also common for pharma, while anything lower is rare.
Choosing the right roughness value is key because the lower the requirement, the higher the price. Especially below 0.8µm, costs can increase significantly.
