Plain stainless steel sheets
Classic industrial stainless steel sheets:
Stainless steel sheets without a specific requested finish are industrial and are stamped by the manufacturer.
Sheets up to 6 mm are usually 2b = cold-rolled finish.
Sheets from 8 mm are 1D = hot-rolled finish.
The stamping on the sheet provides the following information:
- Manufacturer: Identifies the sheet's producer.
- Heat Number and Coil Number: Offers traceability of the production batch.
- Thickness: Indicates the thickness of the sheet.
- Standard: Specification to which the sheet conforms.
- Material Number and AISI Number: Technical identification of the material.
Aesthetic considerations:
For applications where aesthetics are important, these stamps may be undesirable as they are visible on the sheet's surface. Additionally, light scratches are often unavoidable during processing. Therefore, it is up to the customer to request sheet with film or brushed sheet when asking for a quote or placing an order.
This stamping can be avoided by using ground/brushed/sanded sheets. If aesthetics are important, please mention this when requesting a quote or placing an order so we can determine the most suitable material or post-treatment. Samples can always be requested.
